Founded in 1841 York St John University has been at the forefront of Higher Education for over 175 years. In 2005 approval was delivered by the Privy Council giving York St John degree awarding powers and with it the new title of York St John University from February 1st, 2006.Less than a decade later in 2015 the University was proud to be given research degree awarding powers for a PhD and doctoral programs. In 2018 York St John University’s London campus opened, offering 7 postgraduate programs.The University has been placed 81st, which shows a rise of 21 places compared to 2019 and 37 places in comparison to 2018. This follows a rise of 12 places in the latest Guardian league table. The improved league table performance has followed excellent results for York St John in the latest National Student Survey, with 86% overall satisfaction, has placed the University 27th out of 122 Higher Education Institutions in England.Our role in the city of York is one we take seriously. From prison partnerships to working with disabled athletes, military rehabilitation to free creative courses for mental health service users – we fight to remove the hurdles that prevent participation.
